Jenny Chang Interview

She stands 5 feet tall.  She’s a woman with long black hair to her mid back.  Her white jacket always has 6 pens in the left side pocket.  She has a scar right under her left eye where she had fallen.  No noticeable gray hair yet.  She has a small tattoo on her right finger. written in cursive that says BELIEVE and a large diamond ring shining on her left ring finger.  She has perfect white teeth and a gentle smile when she’s about to give you a shot.

Jenny Chang was born on May 15, 1966 in a Ningbo, China. She was discovered to be a miracle child because when she was born, she had died.  But she was able to come back alive when her mother held her in her arms and cried.  Her tiny heart began to beat.  The doctors told her mother not to get too excited because she probably wouldn’t even make it to the age of one.  But guess what?  She did.  She went through all the heartache of being in and out of the hospital for her medical condition.  At the age of 6, she moved to California for better medical treatment.  When she turned 9, she was able to join an actual school.  She graduated from California High School.  From there, she got accepted at the University of Washington, and was there to get her medical degree.  She graduated at the age of 26 and began working at Carolyn Downs. She has 3 beautiful kids by Andrew Johnson; they are 26, 20, and 15.  When asking Dr. Chang how she stayed strong, she told me, “If you believe you can be successful, then then you can do anything.”  She never once gave up in herself.  She always believed. Dr. Chang has gotten a few awards; one even from President Obama. The interview with her was more than just an interview.  It was an inspiring way to look at things in life and believe in anything.
