Young people work diligently for positive change. They are talent in flight! Youth are inspired by others to be who they want to be. Rainier Beach has many places celebrating inspirational leadership, including a mural inside the school that calls young people to step into cultural leadership. And change happens at all levels, including building community relations by reaching out and giving directions and a bus token to a stranger in need. That is an example of positive impact! There are many ways to develop and show talent, including being part of a sports team. Rainier Beach calls young people to stop the violence and use their talents for positive change. The peace walk that happened in the community in July 2011 reflects a community of people from all different backgrounds and races coming together to say that Rainier Beach is a community that cares abut peace and safety.
When everyone does their part, we learn together how to build a community that encourages peace, talent and diversity.
