Southeast Seattle Crime Prevention

I went to this meeting about crime and violence in the Rainer Beach area. The mission of the Southeast Crime Prevention Council is to strengthen the community within its defined boundaries by working on issues of crime and public safety that impact the quality of life and community spirit!

I really enjoyed some of the ideas they had to change or improve the community. One was to reduce the amount of shootings in the Southend. I honestly think that is a great idea because people in this community should feel safe and not wondering who’s next for getting shot or whether I am safe out here. People should have the right to be safe and feel safe in their own community. The fact that people are still in gangs is really disappointing.
