This is a collection of community members of Rainier Beach and the Southeast Seattle area who have shared why their lives matter. We asked each participant the question, “Why does your life matter?”
For the past five weeks at the Freedom School, our Rainier Beach HS scholars have been engaging in powerful conversations regarding issues in our community. Topics such as gentrification, police brutality, homelessness, and racism were often points of discussion in the classrooms.
As we dive into the last week of the program, our scholars are preparing for the “Day of Social Action.” This day will showcase our belief in making a change with hope, education and action as our scholars share stories, poems, art, and more.
We formally extend this invitation to anyone in the community. Join us for our BLOC Party on Tuesday, August 9th!
